Ben Foster, Anne Hathaway, Ryan Gosling, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keri Russell, and Christian Bale had sooooo much doubt about their abilities because of the Disney projects they had when they were younger? Who could believe that they neeeever used that launching pad to their benefit and went on to display great, award winning talent.
Zendaya is a Disney star, one that is used in auditions as a basis for what they aim for. Someone with great comedic timing and ability. Jennifer Lawrence was on that terrible Bill Engvall show. Leonardo DiCaprio? He was on Growing Pains. Every actor has to start somewhere. Marvel cast her for a reason. If it is for MJ then you damn sure know they spent as much time on her as they did with Tom Holland. It is the long haul folks, don’t make the same mistakes and get angry for no good reason.
If your excuse is “She doesn’t have red hair” or “She can’t act” then please, allow me to show you someone else heavily doubted:
Rosamund Fuckin’ Pike. Have you ever seen Die Another Day? If you base all you think about her abilities and potential on THAT performance then good lord, this should have been a trainwreck! How about this guy:
What if Zendaya is playing Mary Jane BUT in the movie she’s essentially going to be in the ‘shrinking wallflower’ archetype/stereotype of a character and, this being a John Hughes type of movie, she goes through a ‘makeover’ moment and so when Peter opens the door to take her to the homecoming dance that’s how we handle the ASM #42 reveal.
I pray to God I am dead wrong about that, but I’m just saying it’s a possibility that we should maybe brace ourselves for.
